Novak Djokovic faces Dominic Thiem at The O2 on Sunday as he begins the defence of his World Tour Finals title and his pursuit to reclaim the world No 1 ranking. Djokovic saw his 122-week hold on top spot ended last weekend when he was usurped by Andy Murray as the worlds top ranked player. World No 1 permutations How the No 1 ranking can change hands...again Having previously admitted that his desire and love for the game had waned, it may be that this latest development adds fuel to the Djokovic fire as he looks to win a sixth World Tour Finals and end the season on top of the standings once again. The 29-year-old has won the season-ending event the last four years and is a two-time Grand Slam champion this year, winning the Australian and French Opens to take his career tally to 14 major titles. Djokovic has endured a frustrating second half of the season and has lost his world No 1 ranking to Andy Murray He also owns a dominant 23-0 record against his three rivals in the Lendl group and first to challenge that will be the youngest man at this weeks finals - Thiem. Ivan Lendl Group Novak Djokovic (Serbia) Milos Raonic (Canada) Gael Monfils (France) Dominic Thiem (Austria) World Tour Finals: Profiles We look back on the year so far for the eight contenders Thiem too has had his struggles over the second half of the year but claimed four titles over the course of the regular season The Austrian is making his debut at the event and after a sensational start to 2016, tailed off over the second half of the year.He has never won a set against Djokovic, losing all three meetings including their most high-profile encounter at the French Open semi-final earlier this year where Djokovic won 6-2 6-1 6-4.In recent weeks the 23-year-old has suffered surprise defeats to Jack Sock, Viktor Troicki and Alexander Zverev and has not gone beyond a quarter-final since the middle of September. Introducing the underdogs What do we know about debutants Dominic Thiem and Gael Monfils However Thiem is not to be underestimated having claimed four titles this year, only Murray (eight) and Djokovic (seven) have won more although the last of those came back in June.Djokovic too has wobbled since his dominant first half of the year - he has been beaten by Marin Cilic and Roberto Bautista Agut since using the US Open final to Stan Wawrinka and he has won just one title since completing his career Grand Sam at Roland Garros and that came with victory at the Rogers Cup in Toronto in July.Whether Thiem can capitalise remains to be seen but the opening singles match of the tournament promises to be an intriguing one. World Tour Finals: The Groups We run through the contenders and their groups at The O2 As is the case for every session the doubles will kick off the action from 12pm on Sky Sports and the first match of the week will see Mike and Bob Bryan taking on Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo. Edberg/Jarryd Group Bob Bryan & Mike Bryan Ivan Dodig & Marcelo Melo Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares Treat Huey & Max Mirnyi Bob and Mike Bryan are five-time winners of the season-end doubles event The American brothers are seeded third this year and are four-time champions of the event but come into the tournament on the back of two years without a major title. They face sixth-seeded pair Dodig and Melo who have won the last two Masters events they have entered in Cincinnati and Canada. All the action from the O2 between November 13-20 will be live on Sky Sports across the week and if you are out and about you can follow on our Sky Sports apps and the website via our live blogs. Full schedule here. Toronto Raptors Jerseys .com) - Mikko Korhonen carded a 5-under 67 on Thursday to claim medalist honors at the European Tours Final Qualifying Stage tournament.Steph Curry is the biggest star in the NBA at the moment, and no one else seems to be able to exist in the same planet. Our US sportswriter Alex Ferguson looks at Currys season and examines how he and the Warriors are changing the game… Its another three-point shot from Steph Curry, this time from nearer the halfway line than the three-point shot. The game is won in overtime, and the Golden State Warriors are one game closer to beating the 1995/96 Chicago Bulls single season record of 72-10 a record they have gone on break losing only lost nine games this season….and winning at astonishing 73 of them. They qualified for the play-offs in March, and quite frankly look unstoppable.Steph Currys season has been unbelievable, smashing more records than a Who concert in the 1970s. He has broken his own NBA record for three-pointers in a season…he actually broke it with 24 games to go. He was aiming for 300, and he ended up with 402......402 successful three-point shots this season.  Curry seems to have mastered the art of three-point shooting - and made it trendy Curry is really good at getting the ball away at the other end too - he finished the season with 169 steals, the most in the league. The great thing for Curry is, despite leading the league in points per game average (30.1), he is also an unselfish player playing on a very unselfish team. He is eighth in the league in assists (his Warriors team-mate Draymond Green is seventh). Curry celebrates his spectacular, record breaking three-point matchwinner The Golden State Warriors love passing the ball to each other - they total 28.9 assists a game (first in the NBA), and they love drilling the ball from the three-point line, hitting 41.6 per cent of their shots from behind the arc. The other shooter on the team - Klay Thompson - is No 12 in NBA scoring average to Currys first.Oh, and the team plays defence - they lead the league in defensive rebounds per game average (36.2), led by Green, and have strong shhot blockers too, most notably Andrew Bogut.ddddddddddddBut is Curry better than Jordan? The answer? We dont know. Curry is now drawing comparisons with Michael Jordan - but such comparisons are unfair given they are very different players They are different players. Jordan wasnt Currys 6ft 3in (he was 6ft 6in) and he was a great defensive player as well as an offensive juggernaut. Curry is good at stealing the ball but hes not a rebounder. Unlike Curry, Jordan wasnt a brilliant three-point shooter (.332), but like Curry, he was the player that you want to have the ball in his hands when the game was on the line. And like Curry, Jordan was absolutely unstoppable.Like the dunk fashion that swept the courts in the 1990s, more and more people are worshipping the guy who can score from anywhere. You know, be like Steph and all that.Jordan was a bigger moneymaker outside of the court, but look for Curry to drop some jaws in the 2016 off-season. Curry led his team to the NBA Championship last season The great thing about Curry is that hes changing the game. The three-point shot, which was never as cool as the dunk going back through the years, is suddenly hugely fashionable. Its been a record year for three-point attempts in the NBA (24.0 per game vs the previous record of 22.4 in 2015). Curry is making the change. Why? Because if Curry and the Warriors are shooting so well from three-point range, a game can be finished by the end of the third quarter. Other teams need to shoot well to go head-to-head with the Warriors. Thats why youve got almost half the league chucking up over 25 three-point attempts a game. They are just trying to keep up.Otherwise, we wont just be celebrating Currys Warriors, well be celebrating one of the shortest play-off series in the history of the game.   Also See: NFL Video Rookies guide NFL on Sky Sports Pundits Cheap Hawks Jerseys Cheap Celtics Jerseys Cheap Nets Jerseys Cheap Hornets Jerseys Cheap Bulls Jerseys Cheap Cavaliers Jerseys Cheap Mavericks Jerseys Cheap Nuggets Jerseys Cheap Pistons Jerseys Cheap Warriors Jerseys Cheap Rockets Jerseys Cheap Pacers Jerseys Cheap Clippers Jerseys Cheap Lakers Jerseys Cheap Grizzlies Jerseys ' ' '
